LPGA Tour Top British Ladies

Unlike the Ladies European Tour (LET), the LPGA Tour has had far fewer success stories from a British point of view, owing mostly to the fact that very few British players compete on the Tour compared with the LET.

That said, there are still some players from the UK who have managed to make an impact on the elite tour for female golfers.
One British woman has already achieved success in 2009, Catriona Matthew of Scotland winning the first event of the year, the LPGA Brasil Cup, which was held in January.

Matthew has also won two other events on the LPGA Tour, including the Hawaiian Ladies Open in 2001 and the Wendy's Championship for Children in 2004. She also achieved a top-10 finish in the 2005 Money List.

Another Scot, Janice Moodie, is also among the top British players in the LPGA Tour, despite not enjoying much recent success. Moodie's two professional tournament wins came on the Tour, with the LPGA Classic in 2000 and the Asahi Ryokuken International Championship two years later. Despite a lack of recent success, she remains in the world's top 100 players.

More recent success has come south of the border, with England's Karen Stupples enjoying two Tour wins in an excellent 2004. Stupples won both the Welch's/Fry's Championship and the Women's British Open on her way to an impressive sixth place finish in the 2004 Money List.

However, Laura Davies remains Britain's most successful player on the LPGA Tour, with 20 tournament wins, although the last of these was in 2001 in the Wegmans LPGA. Davies was also the last British Player of the Year in 1996 and last Briton to top the Money List in 1994.
