As often seems to be the case when discussing the finest players in British women's golf, the first name mentioned tends to be that of Laura Davies and when considering the best British players on the Ladies European Tour (LET), it is no different.
Davies has won no less than 38 of the 71 LET events she has entered and is by far the most successful British player to have competed on the Tour. In fact, with over 3million prize money, she is the most successful LET player ever.
Davies' success has spanned the length of her professional career, having joined the Ladies European Tour in 1985 and finished top of the Order of Merit in her first year. She has gone on to achieve this feat on a further six occasions, the most recent coming in 2006, when she finished the year with 471,727 to her name, despite winning only one event, the SAS Masters in Norway.
Davies aside, there are other British players who have made their mark on the Tour, particularly recently.
In 2007 Trish Johnson finished fourth in the Order of Merit, having won the Ladies Italian Open, while a year later Lisa Hall impressed, winning two events to take ninth place in the standings.
Perhaps the best chance of British glory in future comes in the shape of Rebecca Hudson, who has enjoyed considerable success on the LET since turning professional in 2002.
In 2006 she finished eighth in the Order of Merit, having won the Ladies Central European Open in Hungary, and in 2008 she won three events on the way to a 10th-place finish.
Outside of England, Scotland's Catriona Lambert has two Ladies European Tour tournament wins to her name and finished sixth in the 2007 Order of Merit.
